The hardenss testing solution works with a hardness tester, including the Leica microhardness tester, which pushes an indenter into the sample for a specified time using a known load. Leica QHardness then automatically measures the resulting indentation from the microscope image and calculates a hardness number for the sample according to the standard selected. Multiple indents can also be made and reported in a hardness chart. The system features control of motorised stage for automatic determination of hardness profiles. The Leica QHardness application solution, in conjunction with the Leica Materials Workstation, a hardness indentor and Leica optical microscope, provides a turn-key package for measuring hardness of materials.
Conforms to Standards
The software is capable of hardness testing to ASTM E384, whilst enabling testing to the Vickers, Knoop and Brinell test methods, which report to recognised industry ISO, JIS, DIN and ASTM standards.
